TESTIMONIAL - POWER OF THE MIND

POWER OF THE MIND

As a child, My mother has always been very inspiring, guiding me through difficult experiences. Her wisdom and teachings enriched my character and shaped my understanding of the world. One valuable lesson that she has always taught me was the boundless power of the mind, demonstrating how it could impact not only my athletic performance but also daily practices. Through her teachings, I realized that the mind could both be a powerful ally and a fear or respect for someone because they are so powerful.

Mom: “you know dear, our minds are like gardens (metaphor). Whatever we plant within them will blossom and become our reality ( simile).”

Me: “ What do you mean, Mom?”

Mom: “ Imagine you are on the volleyball court about to serve the ball. If you fill your mind with doubt and negative thoughts, chances are you’ll miss the serve, but if you affirm positive outcomes in your mind your going to increase your chances of success.”

I remember after me and my mom had this talk, I took this positive energy to my game. When it was finally my time to serve I took a deep breath and remembered my moms words. “ If you affirm positive outcomes in your mind your going to increase your chances of success (flashback).” In that game at that moment I served five ace’s over the net. After that I took a moment and thought to myself how powerful your mind is and that your fully capable of doing anything you apply yourself to. On the way to school every morning me and my mom always have talks and listen to Tim Grover who is the coach and a very inspirational speaker who knows a lot about the mind. Every game day or even when Im just going to volleyball practice my mom reminds me about visulization techniques.

Mom: “ Remember, picture yourself going up to hit the ball and you get the best hit of your life. I want you to manifest that everytime.”

Me: “ But Mom, that seems unreal.”

Mom: “ The mind cannot distinguish between what is real and what is imagined ( hyperbole). Visulize sucsess, and it shall become your companion on the court.”

Mom: “ Remember, manifest, manifest, manifest (repetition), everytime you step one foot on that court.”

That was what I did every time I went up to hit I visulized and manifested the perfect hit. I saw the ball go straight down over the net, landing right behind the ten foot line. I felt the impact of the ball against my hand, Just the right amount of force with so much power. I heard the cheers of my team as the ball hit the floor. I tasted victory, the sweet result of hard work that paid off (suspense). I believed in my ability to make this great hit, and then, it happened, just as I had manifested it. My mom has also taught me that when you are at defeat to stay down and think about what happened then rise back up and come out stronger.

Mom: “ Life’s greatest lessons are learned in times of defeat (paradox). Embrace this moment and allow it to fuel your determination.”

Me: “ But Mom, how can I overcome such discouraging losses?”

Mom: “ By training your mind to failures see as stepping sones towards success. Channel your disappointment into motivation and remember that greatness often emerges from hardship.”

This school season has been tough. I made the varsity team this year and our team is really struggling. We have only won five games out of twenty this season, and it seems to be that no one cares. When times get tough in a game everyone starts to shut down and doesn’t keep on fighting. I have learned that if everyone else doesn’t want to play their hardest in the toughest times, every time I step one foot on that court I play my hardest until the game is finished.

Through years of heartfelt conversations and motherly guidance, My mom unveiled the incredible power that our minds hold over our daily lives and athletic pursuits. She taught me the importance of positive affirmations, The visualization and strength, and manifesting something before you do it. As I navigate through life, her teachings remind me to approach every challenge with a stong mindset, harnessing the extraordinary power of the mind to face sports and daily practices head on.
